My Art
Art is created for myself first, as a derivative of my voice. It is, and always will be a wonderful feeling when someone is moved by something that I have created. It fills me with extra inspiration and appreciation, with much gratitude, to continue on my journey of making art.
An art series is more than just one piece of artwork; it’s a collection of similar styles and or compositions. In the evolution of an artist, developing an art series with your personal style of art has many rewards.
All my art has vague borders and parameters, which gives me the freedom to create without restrictions. This series, which is my version of pointillism and stippling, is in four phases. It begins with an original pen & ink drawing, which is then redrawn on a cold pressed steel background, which I also create, completing the second phase. Continuing into the third phase, the original drawing is printed on wood and merged with old weathered and patinaed copper. The final phase of this series are a small limited edition prints from the original pen & ink.
Original Pen & Ink Drawings
Phase 1
My art begins with the original drawing in pen & ink. Drawn with my version of pointillism and stippling on cold pressed watercolor paper. Each are framed to the appropriate size.
Art on Metal
Phase 2
After working the image out in dots and lines I then redraw it lager on cold pressed steel using acrylic pens. The background metal is rusted and painted which takes a few days to complete. Allowing the paint to mix with the dust of the rust creates a unique, weathered color and expression. The edges are then wrapped in patinaed copper. All of this is done by hand to become part of the completed piece of art.
Art on Wood
Phase 3
The original Pen & Ink Drawing has been printed on wood; note the wood grain in the image. These limited edition woodprints are in an edition of seven. The wood image is wrapped with copper, patinaed, then mounted to reclaimed barn wood. The edges of the background have also been wrapped with copper and patinaed.
Limited Edition Prints
Phase 4
The final phase is the signed, and numbered prints of the original pen & ink image. Depending on the art, some are in an edition of 51, 5 X 7 inch or 101, 7 X 10 inch. Each one signed, and numbered. They have been professionally printed on white 100% Aquarelle Rag watercolor paper. They are matted and protected in a clear acid-free sleeve.
