Sherri Lane
BACKGROUND
Born and raised in Uvalde, Texas, she met her husband while attending Texas A&M. They have 2 married children and 1 granddaughter, all living in Wichita Falls. Life is good!
Sherri has been making different styles of jewelry for many years. She found her true passion 8 years ago, when she took a metalsmithing class at the local university. For Sherri, there is nothing like heating a fresh sheet of metal, sawing out a shape and shaping it into a one-of-a-kind creation!
MEDIUM AND TECHNIQUE
She currently works in 14K gold, Argentium Sterling Silver, Jewelers Brass, and Copper. Her pieces use creative forms and structures, incorporating techniques such as Foldforming, Granulation, and Air Chasing.
INSPIRATION
Her recent work highlights casting with organic materials, such as pine needles, beans, salt, and even water! Silver is melted in a crucible and poured over the organic material. The resulting pieces are polished, then jewelry designs are sketched to incorporate and highlight each unique piece. The freeform castings are accented by patterns and designs she imprints on metal using corn husks, leaves, fabric scraps, and texture plates.
